Scott Eastwood’s ‘The Longest Ride’ Opens Well During Late Night Thursday Showings

It looks like Scott Eastwood may be a bonafide leading man. His first leading film, the romantic Nicholas Sparks movie The Longest Ride, is tracking very well so far.

The film didn’t officially open until today, but early screenings on Thursday indicated that Eastwood does have pull at the box office. Since he’s been banking on his model looks, pairing Eastwood up to a romantic drama seemed like a no-brainer, and it looks like the demographic that usually enjoys Sparks’ adaptations are going out in droves to see the heartthrob.

According to Variety, Eastwood’s The Longest Ride opened by making an impressive $625,000 on late night showings alone. As Variety reported, the film is expected to finish out the weekend making $15 million as it launches from 2,360 to 3,364 screens. Seeing as this season is usually lukewarm for most films because it’s just before blockbuster season, this is a respectable amount of money.

The Longest Ride is definitely not going to top the number one spot at the box office. Furious 7 broke records all over the world last week when it made $183 million domestically in one weekend. Its opener saw the film take in $147.2 million dollars, which is the biggest opening of that weekend. In terms of its worldwide performance, it took in $384 million. As of right now the film is the ninth biggest opening ever and the first of the franchise to open with more than $100 million dollars.

That said, Scott Eastwood’s film may just gain traction for longevity in its demographic. Eastwood is proving to be quite the charismatic leading man on his press rounds. As the Inquisitr reported, the son of Clint Eastwood made a huge revelation on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live! He had admitted, unprompted, to host Andy Cohen that Ashton Kutcher slept with his girlfriend while he was still dating her.

Not only did Eastwood reveal that factoid, but it was the girl who broke up Kutcher and Demi Moore’s marriage. Figure that in with the fact that Kutcher’s Two and a Half Men co-star Jon Cryer, was sitting right next to Eastwood, and it made for great television.

What will you be going to see this weekend?
