‘True Detective’ Season 2 Trailer Drops

There’s been a quiet front on the upcoming season of True Detective. Besides some minor plot details and cast announcements, there’s not much we know about the second season — that’s until now.

The teaser trailer for the second season of True Detective has dropped, and by the looks of it, it seems as dark and broody as the first season. Bringing the second season to California seems to have painted a very unique landscape for the gritty crime drama, which lends itself to bigger different storylines that don’t feel recycled from last year.

As the Inquisitr reported, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch, and Colin Farrell are all on board for the second season of True Detective. While not a lot is given away from the teaser, we do get to see Farrell sport a pretty great mustache, which is a huge departure from his frequent matinee idol looks.

According to E! Online, Colin Farrell is playing Ray Velcoro, who is described as a “compromised detective” in the LA County while Vince Vaughn plays a criminal entrepreneur named Frank Semyon. McAdams plays Ani Bezzerides, a detective who is “at odds with the system she serves,” while Kitsch plays Paul Woodrugh, a war vet turned motorcycle cop.

In addition to the teaser, HBO has released posters of each character.

The second season of the HBO hit premieres on June 21. Director Justin Lin has replaced Cary Fukunaga, and creator Nic Pizzolatto is still on hand as the series’ writer.

Fans of the award-winning series are already psyched about the upcoming season.

Check out the teaser below.
