Mayweather Vs Pacquiao Won’t Happen Because Floyd’s All About The Money And Excuses

Let’s face it, the Manny Pacquiao fight versus Floyd Mayweather isn’t likely to happen anytime soon, if it ever happens at all because Mayweather is relentlessly attempting to make sure it doesn’t.

While Mayweather met with Miguel Cotto at the Apollo Theater to promote their May 5 fight in Las Vegas talk quickly turned to the 50-50 split request made by Manny Pacquiao.

In his rather hubris attempt to explain the situation Mayweather noted:

“Just by speaking to Pacquiao on the phone, I mean, he’s not one of the sharpest knives in the drawer. He faces Floyd Mayweather, he’s not getting 50-50. Not at all. No one is getting 50-50.”

This isn’t the first time Mayweather refused to step in the ring over stupid issues he pointed at Manny, in 2009 he ended up in court after accusing Pacquiao of using performance-enhancing drugs which led to defamation charges filed by his potential competitor. That case is still ongoing with Pacquiao spending 12 hours in a Las Vegas court last week as he gave his deposition in the case.

According to Mayweather:

“If I offered him $30 million, he should be happy. If I offered him $30 million and I didn’t give money on the back end, why should I? He’s with Arum [famous fight promoter] right now, and they’re having problems. It’s obvious he must not be getting money on the back end.”

Mayweather claims he’s not afraid to fight Manny:

“If I’m scared and I’m a coward, why do you guys want to see me fight?” he said. “Do I want the Pacquiao fight? Absolutely. But it’s going to be hard to make the fight because Arum is worried about getting money.”

Cotto in the meantime was defeated by Manny Pacquaio in 2009 after a 12 round match.

Mayweather continues to find new ways to accuse Manny for delaying their fight, he reminds me of the bully on the playground who loves to threaten less aggressive kids but backs away from actually starting fights when a kid his own size draws close.

Throw in whiny Twitter comments made towards Manny by Floyd and it’s all become a 13-year-old girl type of fight that’s laughable at best.

In the meantime Mayweather on June 1 will begin serving a 90-day jail sentence for domestic violence. I’m sure he’ll blame that on Manny somehow as well.

Do you think Mayweather is avoiding a Manny Pacquiao fight for fear that he might lose and look stupid under the weight of his own hubris?
