‘Gotham’ Teasers And Spoilers Whet Fans’ Appetites For Next Week’s ‘Beasts Of Prey’ [Video]

Warning: This article contains spoilers for the Gotham episode “Beasts of Prey.”

For those that haven’t been following the DC Comics origins story, Gotham is unique in that it is the first time pre-Batman Gotham City has been explored, allowing fans to see how their favorite supervillains got their start and how both Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) came to become symbols for truth and justice in the country’s most corrupt city. Gotham primarily follows Gordon and Wayne, as they become embroiled in Gotham City’s seedy underbelly.

Fans of Gotham already know that the series, which airs Monday nights on Fox, has been taking a short spring break, but Fox is bringing Gotham back next week with its nineteenth episode, “Beasts of Prey.” In anticipation of the episode, Gotham producers have released spoilers, as well as eight (Yes, eight!) teasers to grab everyone’s attention.

The “Beasts of Prey” description sent along with the eight Gotham teasers give fans an even deeper look into the newest episode, as well as a look at what may be Gotham‘s scariest villain yet.

“Gordon and Bullock investigate a cold case involving the Ogre, a serial killer who targets young women in Gotham City. Meanwhile, Fish plots her escape from the Dollmaker, and Bruce and Selina confront Reggie.”

As Jada Pinkett Smith plays out her exit as Fish Mooney, Milo Ventimiglia (Rocky Balboa, Heroes) joins the cast as Jason Lennon, better known as Gotham’s deadliest serial killer “The Ogre,” when “Beasts of Prey” airs. Based on the teasers and the spoilers, it seems The Ogre is going to make things personal for Jim Gordon, targeting both of the two women in his life: former fiancee, Barbara Kean and latest love interest Dr. Leslie Thompkins.

Again, the willful corruption of Gotham City’s police force comes into play in “Beasts of Prey,” when Gordon’s partner reveals that The Ogre has been abducting women and holding them hostage for months, before finally killing them, for decades. The Gotham police, Harvey reveals, stopped pursuing cases related to The Ogre, when it became apparent that investigations led The Ogre to target the wives and daughters of Gotham City police officers.

Fans of Gotham know that there isn’t much that would deter Jim Gordon from his duty and things won’t change in “Beasts of Prey,” with Jim dogging The Ogre in his usual relentless manner. It doesn’t help that Leslie gives him that “Go get ’em, Tiger!” speech. What do you think? Can Jim Gordon nab The Ogre, before Leslie falls prey to Gotham City’s deadliest serial killer?
