Super Bowl Ring On Craigslist For $45,000, But Which New Orleans Saints Player Is Selling?

An NFL Super Bowl Ring is available on Craigslist to buy, and you only need $45,000 in order to purchase it.

The advert was placed on Craigslist in late March, the title of which reads, “2009 New Orleans Saints Super Bowl Ring – Genuine, Authentic – $45000.” It has been made available to individuals in Atlanta, Georgia.

The post also explained, “Attention New Orleans Saints fans!!! An opportunity has opened for one lucky fan to be the proud owner of a genuine, authentic 2009 New Orleans Saints Super Bowl ring. The ring is currently owned by a former Saints player.”

Further details on the ring were also teased in the advert. It’s reportedly in “perfect condition,” and features “103 round, brilliant cut diamonds weighing 2.20 carats total weight, H color, VS clarity range.” It also details, “The fleur-de-lis team logo is fully encompassed and surround with diamonds. The remainder of the ring is 14k gold.”

Manufactured by Tiffany & Co. the ring also includes the logo, “Super Bowl XLIV and Saints 31 Colts 17, 02-07-10 Miami, FL.”

Any of you who are interested in the piece but are dubious about its legitimacy will be happy to know that the “wooden presentation box and paperwork validating the authenticity are also included” But if the $45,000 asking price is too much, the seller insists that it’s negotiable.

But the big question now is who does the ring actually belong to? Well, a team of reporters over at the New Orleans Times-Picayune have figured out that whoever is trying to sell the ring wore the number 29 for the Saints during the 2009 season.

That doesn’t really make things any simpler though because practice squad player Glenn Sharpe and defensive backs Chris McAlister, Marcus McCauley, and Herana-Daze Jones all wore that number through the campaign. Each of these were provided with a Super Bowl ring in lieu of the New Orleans Saints’ victory in 2009.

But which candidate is the most likely to be selling their prized possession? Back in 2012 McAlister was alleged by TMZ to be in dire straits financially, even though in 2004 he signed a seven-year contract worth $55 million with the Baltimore Ravens. However he was released two months before the Saints won Super Bowl XLIV.

Meanwhile, Glenn Sharpe was arrested and charged with murder in the suburbs of Atlanta back in February 2012, which suggests that he might be the most likely individual to be trying to sell the luxurious item of jewelry.

31-year-old Marcus McCauley rounded off his career with the Sacramento Mountain Lions in 2010, while Herana-Daze Jones concluded his with the Virginia Destroyers in 2011.
