FX Sets Premiere Date For Charlie Sheen’s ‘Anger Management’

Charlie Sheen will return to TV on Thursday, June 28 at 9/8c, that’s the time FX just announced for the funnyman’s new show Anger Management.

If the name of the show rings a bell that’s probably because it’s based off the Adam Sandler-Jack Nicholson movie of the same name in which Charlie Sheen takes over the anger management counselor role that was one handled by Nicholson.

Sheen announced his intentions to bring Anger Management to the small screen shortly after he was fired from Two and a Half Men by CBS and Warner Bros, a firing that led Charlie to eventually receive a $100 million payout on top of his lucrative syndication deal for the show.

Joining Charlie Sheen on the small screen version will be Selma Blair who plays the role of Charlie’s therapist and Shawnee Smith who will play his ex-wife.

Anger Management is being produced by the original film’s producer Joe Roth and it will also air on CTV in Canada and TBS in Latin America.

It will be interesting to see how well the show plays with audiences after critics gave the original movie a 43% aggregated rating on RottenTomatoes.com while viewers ranked the movie just 5.1 out of 10 stars.

If you’re not a fan of Charlie Sheen but you like British comedian Russell Brand FX has also announced that his six-part series titled Strangely Uplifting will debut that same night at 11/10c.

Throw in the third season of Louie which will air episodes on Thursday at 10:30/9:30c and you end up with a decent lineup for FX’s Thursday night showings.

Will you be tuning in to see if Charlie Sheen can strike sitcom gold once again with Anger Management?
