WWE News: Backstage Update On Stephanie McMahon Vs. Ronda Rousey Match At WrestleMania 32

As we saw at WrestleMania 31, UFC star Ronda Rousey appeared on the show with The Rock to confront The Authority’s Stephanie McMahon and Triple H. It was a great segment which got huge pops for everyone involved. While the segment did run over 20 minutes long, many feel that it was worth it for how hot the crowd was with it. Plus it managed to attract a lot of outside attention for WWE, which was obviously a good thing for the company.

The segment led to a lot of speculation that WWE could be bringing Ronda back for next year’s WrestleMania. WWE wants WrestleMania 32 to be huge, so they appear to be stacking the card or at least attempting. Not only are they trying to bring The Rock back for just about anything they can get him in for, but we’re most likely going to see the return of several legends. Do not be surprised if people like Chris Jericho wrestle on the show or people come back during the WrestleMania build-up in 2016.

WWE knows that Cowboy’s Stadium can seat over 100,000 people if done right, and they could break records there with how many they could fit. They want this record, so the card is going to be big. Rousey being part of it is only a small piece of the puzzle. However, it is one that WWE wants badly.

While there was an idea that she could be involved in a mixed tag team match with Rock as her partner vs Triple H and Stephanie, there is a thought that WWE would want her to simply face Stephanie McMahon. While many would consider this idiotic as Stephanie has only wrestled once in the last decade, she has been one of the top women in WWE for years. She is in a much higher position than any WWE Diva. So whatever she does will hold more weight in theory.

Ronda Steph

So, WWE wants this to go down. According to The Wrestling Observer, WWE is seriously pushing for it to happen. There is no deal in place for Rousey, but both WWE and Ronda have an understanding that they want the match to happen at WrestleMania 32. This is a big deal, because if both sides want it to happen one would imagine that it very well could go down.

Not so fast.

Ronda Rousey is currently under a UFC contract with several fights left on her deal. Due to this, she has to get permission to do anything outside of UFC. That said, UFC President Dana White would have to allow her to compete in a WWE match. If he does, she would be the first person ever to be contracted by UFC at the same time a deal would be in place with WWE.

UFC does have some thinking to do on it. While Ronda is UFC’s top draw right now, and losing her at any point would hurt the product….WWE is a big company that could bring attention to UFC. The more people that know about UFC, the better. So, the company would seriously need to consider the idea of letting her work a WWE match just to build the company.

If WWE cannot seem to get her in for a match, we easily could still see The Rock vs Triple H with Stephanie and Ronda in their respective corners. This would pretty much work out the same way the WrestleMania 31 segment did. We’ll have to see what happens, but we can probably expect Ronda to do something at WrestleMania 32. There is always something that can work out in the end.
