Motorist Who Ignored Injured Woman On Freeway Shocked To Find Out She Was His Mother

When it comes to doing the right thing in life, the following story proves that it pays to be conscientious and to help those in need, even if they are strangers.

A motorist in China, named as Mr. Zhang, is reportedly eating some humble pie after he passed an injured woman lying next to the freeway as he was on his was to visit his mother; Zhang couldn’t be bothered to help the person he thought was a stranger.

However, when Mr Zhang found out from her neighbors that the woman he had passed on the freeway was his mother, he returned to the freeway to assist her, as she lay there dying and covered in blood.

The elderly woman, named Wu Lake from the Anhui Province in China, unfortunately died in the ambulance on the way to hospital after having been involved in a hit and run accident.

A neighbor of the deceased told reporters in China, “Mr Zhang is the victim’s son. He wells up as soon as he mentions his mother and the accident she was involved in. Zhang recalls he set off early in the morning to see his mother who lived in the ancestral village. En route he drove by a hit-and-run scene.”

When the police asked Mr Zhang why he didn’t stop to assist the old lady he openly admitted that he didn’t want to get involved, and, anyway, was on his way to see his mom.

As Zhang said, “I saw a woman lying in the road. When I got to my mother’s home and found that she wasn’t there I headed straight back to the traffic accident as I had a feeling it might be her. As soon as I got there I could see it was Mum.”

Unfortunately, due to a recent spate of lawsuits against people who tried to help those on the roadside in China, many are reluctant to get involved in a situation which could potentially end in trouble.
