Alan Tudyk: Entire ‘Firefly’ Cast To Appear In ‘Con Man’

Actor Alan Tudyk has revealed that the entire cast of his former show Firefly are set to appear in Con Man, a new web series that he has developed and will star in alongside fellow Browncoat Nathan Fillion.

Tudyk and Fillion announced Con Man several weeks ago, as the Inquisitr previously reported, and the Indiegogo campaign to crowdfund the series quickly went viral. Blowing past the original goal of financing just three episodes, the project has since raised over $2.8 million, enough to put together a full first season for the show.

Much of the support for Con Man no doubt stems from the Firefly fanbase that both Tudyk and Fillion share. Appearing together on the cult sci-fi show, which provided much of the inspiration for Con Man, the duo reprised their roles in the 2005 feature film Serenity along with the rest of the show’s ensemble cast. Now, according to Cinema Blend, Tudyk has revealed that the entire cast of Firefly will likely be appearing in Con Man, though many of their roles have yet to be decided.

Speaking as part of a Reddit AMA, Tudyk noted that Sean Maher and Gina Torres will be part of the first season of Con Man. As for Morena Baccarin, Adam Baldwin, Summer Glau, Jewel Staite and Ron Glass, Tudyk expressed his desire to be careful about handling their appearances.

“Everybody has committed to being in Con Man. I don’t want to waste their cameos. So, I’m hoping for a second season to put them all in. Right now, it’s just Sean and Gina in the first season. Possibly more. The others will be Where’s Waldo? type cameos.”

Con Man will focus on characters that are very much dramatized extensions of Fillion and Tudyk, as Entertainment Monthly points out. In the fictional world of Con Man, the duo starred in a cult sci-fi hit that was cancelled far too soon, and while Fillion’s character has gone on to “Matt Damon levels” of fame, Tudyk’s has not.

Inspired by real people both actors met on the convention circuit following their time in Firefly and Serenity, Con Man has attracted a variety of talent from other notable sci-fi shows as well. Battlestar Galactica‘s Tricia Helfer and Michael Trucco, as well as Felicia Day, James Gunn, and Emily Kinney have all signed on to appear alongside Fillion and Tudyk in Con Man.
