WWE News: Anti-Roman Reigns Signs Confiscated At ‘Monday Night RAW’

It seems as though WWE has had enough of the negative reactions that crowds have been giving Roman Reigns as of late. At Monday night’s RAW and Superstars tapings in Austin, Texas, security was confiscating anti-Roman Reigns signs from the crowd, according to a report at Prowrestling.net.

Reigns was receiving strong crowd reactions prior to his injury early last fall, and Roman still has been receiving strong, positive reactions at WWE house shows around the country. However, television tapings have been a different story for Reigns. At WrestleMania 31 in Santa Clara just eight days ago, Reigns received arguably the loudest negative reaction on the show when he made his entrance for the main event. The trend continued the following night at Monday Night RAW in San Jose when Reigns was booed out of the building.

It should be noted that the crowd in town for WrestleMania and the post-Mania RAW are usually not indicative of the WWE audience as a whole. The hardest of the hardcores travel to WrestleMania every year, and that is the type of fan who has been most negative of Roman Reigns’ push. Ever since Reigns returned from his injury, and culminating when he won the Royal Rumble, the hardcore fan base has been getting more restless with what they have determined to be a forced push of a young star not quite ready for the spotlight (Reigns).

At last week’s SmackDown tapings in Fresno, the crowd reactions for Reigns were more positive than they had been just the night before in San Jose. Reigns still received some negative crowd reaction when he made his entrance during tonight’s RAW in Austin, but it was nowhere close to some of the negative crowd response Roman has recently received.

Reigns had originally been scheduled to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 31, but the plans for the title change were switched to Seth Rollins just days before the event. According to a report this week in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Brock Lesnar was aware that Rollins would be winning the title when he signed his new WWE contract five days before WrestleMania. Lesnar found out far before Roman Reigns, as the family of Reigns were noticeably angry at WrestleMania following the finish. As for Seth Rollins, he did not find out he was winning the belt until late in the show, just before it actually went down.
