‘Once Upon A Time’ Season Finale Spoilers: Will Emma Make The Ultimate Sacrifice? [Video]

Season 4 of Once Upon a Time could end with a major cliffhanger, and it sounds like Captain Swan/Swan Queen fans better get those tissues ready! Before you read on, be forewarned that potential spoilers lay ahead.

There’s no episode of Once Upon a Time airing tonight because of the Easter holiday, but fans definitely have plenty to look forward to during the coming weeks. Set footage from the Season 4 finale has leaked online, and Spoiler TV shared the covert video along with a few explanations of what is going on during the scenes that were being filmed.

According to an eyewitness, one scene features an unseen enemy attacking Regina, and Robin Hood tries to fend it off. Emma Swan “takes Regina’s place” and sacrifices herself so that everyone else can get their happy endings. Emma has the Dark One’s dagger in her hand during the scene, and she suddenly disappears in a flash. It sounds like there’s a chance that Emma Swan may become the new Dark One — or “Dark Swan.” But what happened to her after she disappeared, and how did she end up in this position to begin with?

In the video below, you can see Emma holding the Dark One’s dagger up in the air while lights flash. She eventually drops it and starts running. Outlaw Queen fans will be happy to see Robin Hood and Regina together.

Once Upon a Time fans know that Rumplestiltskin wants to darken Emma Swan’s heart, and what better way to do this than by finding a way to turn her into the new Dark One, whether she likes it or not? Now that the Author is free, Rumple might use the powerful new guy in town to separate himself from the dagger while leaving his powers (and his life) intact.

But first, maybe he’ll try to use someone from Emma Swan’s past to get what he wants — Emma would probably darken her heart voluntarily because of what her parents did to Maleficent’s daughter Lily. Emma and Lily were once friends, so before Emma sacrifices herself to save Regina in the finale, perhaps she’ll try to give up her pure heart to rid Lily of the darkness that was transferred to her. Something is definitely going to go down with the daughter of the dragon sorceress — there’s an upcoming Once Upon a Time episode titled “Lily” that will likely feature the reappearance of Emma’s bad gal pal.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Rumple has hinted that he’s suffering from a serious health issue and the title of next Sunday’s episode, “Heart of Gold,” seems to suggest that his problem is heart-related. Mr. Gold is getting pretty desperate to get his hands on a happy ending, and he’ll probably go to some extreme measures to get it before it’s too late. If he has to destroy the life of his grandson’s mother to get what he wants, he’s going to use every tool at his disposal to accomplish this, including Lily, the Dark One’s dagger, and the Author.

It’s hard to put the puzzle pieces together right now, but it looks like the season finale of Once Upon a Time is definitely going to be very eventful. The journey there will also be exciting. According to the Latin Times, Rebecca Mader will return as Wicked Witch Zelena during next week’s episode. However, the plot synopsis makes it sound like she’ll only appear in a flashback.

“Gold blackmails Regina into helping him locate the Author before a determined Emma does. Meanwhile, back in fairy-tale land, Robin Hood accepts a job from Rumpelstiltskin and heads to Oz to snatch a prized potion from the Wicked Witch of the West.”

The next episode of Once Upon a Time airs April 12 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
