David Lee Roth Rejoins Van Halen For Summer Concert Tour

Van Halen will be on tour this summer with its original lead vocalist, David Lee Roth, rejoining the band, WebProNews is reporting today. David Lee Roth rejoined Van Halen and performed a live show on Hollywood Boulevard that was also shown on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live.

“According to Kimmel, his show never had more ticket requests from fans than for this momentous gig. Thousands of lucky fans were able to witness the first time that the mighty rock and roll band performed live on US television with its original frontman,” WebProNews reported.

The summer concert tour by Van Halen, with David Lee Roth in the lineup, was announced last month, the theInquisitr reported. The tour started with the appearance last week on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

“2015 summer concert tour by Van Halen will start on July 5 in Auburn, Washington, the Columbian reported.

Van Halen will play at the White River Amphitheater, with the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band as a special guest, and will also be performing on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live,” the Inquisitr reported.

“The performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live began with David Lee Roth injuring his nose from twirling and swinging the microphone stand, causing him to briefly interrupt and re-start the show while getting a bandage applied to his nose,” the Wall Street Journal reported.

“In typical Diamond Dave fashion, Roth had gone onstage with a huge bandage on his nose – and didn’t sound too good as a result. But as Kimmel tells it, turns out the 60-year-old Van Halen frontman was singing through a pretty serious injury,” the Journal reported, then quoted Kimmel as explaining that Roth “clips his nose and actually moves the nose – the world of baton-twirling is very dangerous – so he came offstage… and our medic was trying to stop the bleeding – there was a good deal of blood.”

But as if often said, the show must go on, and it did go on, with David Lee Roth and the rest of Van Halen performing their hit songs “Panama,” “Running with the Devil,” and others on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

After the show, David Lee Roth went to the hospital, and the injury to his nose was sewn up with 14 stitches, indicating the injury was more serious than previously thought.

After that injury, Kimmel asked, “Do we think this is a good omen for the rest of the tour?”

Assuming good health and avoidance of injuries, David Lee Roth and the rest of Van Halen will play shows in 39 cities this summer in the U.S., finishing with a show on October 2 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Van Halen remains one of the most popular rock bands, and fans will be excited to see them live with their original frontman, David Lee Roth.
