Bobbi Kristina Brown And Whitney Houston — A Look At Their Mother/Daughter Relationship [Video]

It has been over two months now since Bobbi Kristina Brown was rushed to the hospital due to a nearly drowning in a bathtub, an incident which was almost an exact replica of the circumstances surrounding the death of her mother, Whitney Houston, three years earlier.

Bobbi Kristina remains in a coma and has recently been removed from the hospital and placed in a rehabilitation facility. Rumor has it that Bobbi Kristina’s father, Bobby Brown, cannot bear the thought of taking her off life support. Most parents would feel the same in his situation. While there is much talk in the media regarding the division of the Brown and Houston relatives, Bobbi Kristina herself painted a different picture of her family, her mother in particular.

“She was an out of this world, phenomenal woman. There will never, ever, ever be another Whitney Houston…It’s not anything that’s fake — nothing like that. It’s us being a family and us getting through it together, and that’s how it is.”

According to ET Online, Whitney Houston desperately prayed for a child. Having suffered miscarriages both before and after the birth of Bobbi Kristina Brown, Whitney naturally cherished her miracle child. The relationship between mother and daughter was very close. In a 1993 interview, the new mother shared her feelings about baby Bobbi Kristina.

“She brings me a lot of joy. She brings both Bobby and I a lot of joy. It’s a different thing when you become a mother. It changes your whole perspective on life. You really don’t live for you anymore. You’re living for your children.”

The following clip shows an interview with Barbara Walters when Bobbi Kristina was just 6-months-old. The young family of three seems happy enough at this early stage. Notice particularly how Whitney holds Bobbi Kristina, how she speaks to her, the light in her eyes as she gazes upon her only child. It is apparent that Bobbi Kristina knew what it was like to feel her mother’s love.

Two years later, Bobbi Kristina is still foremost in Whitney’s thoughts. In an interview with CNN, Whitney touches on the relationship with her own mom, Cissy Houston, her love of children, and shares a message for Bobbi Kristina.

Bobbi Kristina Brown’s mom enjoyed sharing the spotlight with her lovely daughter. This video from a show in Poland in 1999 is just one instance where Whitney brought Bobbi Kristina out to share the stage. She appears to be very comfortable in public. Note how Bobbi Kristina holds Houston’s hand, hugging it to her cheek from time to time.

Certainly celebrities can put on outward appearances to show the public anything they want. However, the deep love and respect between Bobbi Kristina and Whitney Houston is something we can see. The following video, taken in 2011 just a year before the iconic singer’s death, shows the two seem to be just as close as when Bobbi Kristina was a little girl.

It’s no secret that Bobbi Kristina Brown’s family has dealt with issues involving drugs, alcohol, and rumored domestic abuse. No family is perfect. It must be even more difficult to go through hard times while the whole world watches. Through it all, Bobbi Kristina and Whitney Houston remained close.

Now that Bobbi Kristina lies somewhere between life and death, all we can do is lend our prayers to those of her relatives.
