WWE News: Roman Reigns’ Family Thought He’d Win WrestleMania 31 Main Event, Almost Caused Scene When He Lost

As we are all aware by now, WWE Superstar Roman Reigns was involved in the WrestleMania 31 main event with Brock Lesnar where Lesnar was defending his WWE World Heavyweight Championship. This match ended up turning into a triple threat late into the match when both Reigns and Lesnar beat the living crap out of each other. Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase and shocked the world when he won the WWE World Heavyweight Title that night.

According to a recent report from The Inquisitr, this was a last minute decision. WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon was the only one who really knew what they were going to do beforehand. All day long, the plan was worked out to have Reigns go over as was the plan all along. However, shortly before they were about to go out, Lesnar, Reigns and Rollins all met with Michael “P.S” Hayes to discuss the new finish that Vince wanted.

However, it was said that Lesnar knew plans were going to change all along when he signed his new deal with WWE. We heard rumors that he wanted to drop his title to Rollins or Bryan months ago, but not Reigns. Funny enough, he did drop it to Rollins and Reigns took the pin. So if Brock knew, why would WWE keep it a secret from Reigns and even Rollins?

Everyone already knew what was going down in the match beforehand, so the additional material was of no issue. As we ended up seeing, Rollins pinned Reigns and even was heard thanking Reigns “so much.” This led to many assuming that Reigns was willing to give up his spot to Rollins, which might have very well been the case.

Reigns Lesnar Mania

While Reigns knew the finish of the match beforehand, Reigns’ family did not know. In fact, they were so sure that their boy Reigns was going to win, they almost caused a major scene. This was mainly because Roman’s father was furious at the finish, this according to The Wrestling Observer.

This was interesting as well, because The Rock was also present. Rock is Roman’s cousin. We never heard him speak out about Reigns after, so this is quite interesting. It could be that Rock knows how the business works and didn’t want to totally question the move. Plus he was present at The Royal Rumble when Reigns was booed out of the arena. In an interview, when asked about his cousin being ready to be the World Champion and main event WrestleMania, he danced around the question. So even before Mania, Rock himself had some doubts it seemed.

Maybe not in Reigns’ ability, but in him being ready to carry the gold. Reigns had a good performance at WrestleMania in the main event, and did well with the job he was told to do. Roman knows he’ll have more opportunities, it was just that Seth was getting one at WrestleMania 31. Reigns could get one at WrestleMania 32 or even 35. He has a bright future, but so does a lot of WWE’s younger talent.

While Reigns family could have caused a huge problem for WWE at WrestleMania, luckily they turned out to not be an issue. It is uncertain what was told to them to calm them down or what was even said backstage. However, one can assume that a family would get mad if they were told one thing and saw another. They might have felt that WWE screwed their boy over, when in reality the plan just changed and Roman was aware the whole time.
