Sony pulls PlayStation Vita Facebook app

Early yesterday, Sony pulled the PlayStation Vita Facebook app from the PlayStation Store after many users complained of error codes when attempting to launch the app.

According to reports, gamers were unable to log in to Facebook via the PlayStation Vita app for most of the day yesterday, with users being greeted with the error code NP-13144-3 when attempting to log in.

“The Facebook application for PS Vita is not available at this point in time,” a Sony rep told Joystiq. “We are currently looking into this to restore it to normal operational status. We will announce further details when ready.”

Shortly after Sony shot over a statement to Joystiq, Sony EU community manager PadPoet posted on the PlayStation forums that the error was on Facebook’s end. Sony says that it’s working with Facebook to get the issue resolved.

Once everything’s all sorted out, Sony added, the Facebook app will once again be made available on the PlayStation Store–but as to when that will be, well, we don’t know. Sony says that there’s currently no timescale for a fix.

We’ll let you know when Sony has more to say about the Facebook app.
