“Gerard has completed a successful course of treatment and has returned home in good health,” Butler’s representative said in a statement to PEOPLE. “We will not be making any further comment at this time.”
According to reports, Butler checked himself into rehab about three weeks ago after realizing he was beginning to become reliant on the prescription drugs he was on after being injured in a surfing accident while on the set of Of Men and Mavericks back in December.
Now that Butler has completed his stint in rehab, he’s got a whole lot of work ahead of him. He has two movies said to currently be in post-production, Movie 43 and Of Men and Mavericks, and he’s signed on to star in a trio of movies after that.
Gerard is set to reprise his voice role in How to Train Your Dragon 2, which is set to release in 2014, and he’s said to be starring in two military movies, Relativity’s Hunter Killer and Freedom Films’ Thunder Run.
In Hunter Killer, Butler will take on the role of Capt. Joe Glass opposite a rumored Sam Worthington, with the two working together to save the Russian president from a rogue general. Butler is also said the starring alongside Worthington in Thunder Run, a film about the bloody capture of Baghdad by American forces at the start of the Iraq War.
