WWE News: UFC Denies Ronda Rousey Will Be Working For WWE In The Future, Is It Part Of A Storyline?

At WrestleMania 31, we were treated to a pleasant surprise when The Rock came out to confront Triple H and Stephanie McMahon as they were claiming their betterment over the entire WWE Universe. As we know by now, UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey jumped in the ring with Rock to make it a male-on-male and female-on-female confrontation. This allowed for the conversation to switch from being pro-Authority to something completely different.

Rousey did great and was able to make quite an impression. WWE fans loved seeing her, and because of her legit skills, many want to see her join the WWE. Obviously, that cannot happen anytime soon, as she is signed with the UFC. However, Rousey did leave some fans wondering after the show when she tweeted out something that made us believe that she could very well have a match with WWE one day. WWE then used this on WWE RAW on Monday.

She said via Twitter, “The night: Historic. The moment: Electric. The Rock, Ronda &the WWE Universe: Magic. We’re just gettin’ started…”

This did not settle well with the UFC at all, as they didn’t want people believing that she was leaving the Octagon for the Squared Circle. So they put rumors to rest on UFC Tonight through Ronda’s agent, Brad Slater, who said that there were no further plans for Ronda to take part in WWE programming. UFC echoed that, saying Ronda’s WrestleMania appearance was a “one-off.”

Here is where the problem kicks in.

Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey signed a new deal with the UFC a short time ago. She has a lot of fights left on her contract before she can consider doing anything else. However, she does have a clause allowing her to take part in other ventures. This allows her to do whatever she wants in “entertainment.” Since WWE is considered “sports entertainment,” that may leave the door open for her to have a match in the future.

Dave Meltzer spoke about this on the Wrestling Observer radio show.

“No more WWE for now. There is no deal in place for next year’s WrestleMania, but that doesn’t mean she won’t do it.”

While WWE wanted to leave the door open when they showed Ronda’s tweet on WWE RAW, the problem is that no one knows what will be on tap for WrestleMania 32 just yet. We didn’t hear about any major plans being formed for WrestleMania 31 until the summer of 2014, so we probably won’t hear anything being serious with Ronda Rousey until that time or early 2016.

Since there is no telling if The Rock can compete at WrestleMania 32, it’s tough to imagine a tag team match right now. On top of this, if Rock is there, then there is more money in having him face Brock Lesnar than working a tag match with Rousey. So there is a lot of things up in the air, which could be why there are no concrete plans for Ronda just yet.

Ronda’s WrestleMania 31 appearance was indeed a one-off, but obviously those plans can change. On top of this, UFC most likely wouldn’t have an issue when you bring more eyeballs to the sport through WWE. So it’s a win/win for all parties involved. However, UFC might get protective of Ronda, as she is one of the biggest MMA attractions in the world today.
