Slovak Bridge To Be Named After Chuck Norris

If you’re going to name a bridge based on public votes you might want to give several serious options and then have the public vote, otherwise you could end up with the Chuck Norris pedestrian and cycling bridge and that’s exactly what’s happening at a new Slovakian structure.

Located near the countries capital the bridge spans over the Morava river and connect on the other side to Austria. If the vote sticks Chuck Norris will have beaten out the other top names including Austro-Hungarian empress Maria Theresa and Devinska (the closest village to the bridge).

While it may seem like a strange choice for the villagers Chuck Norris is often used as a popular source of local jokes involving his macho strength and invincibility, much like the jokes that surround the actor in the United States.

While the naming of a bridge in his honor might seem silly regional Governor Pavol Freso has promised to honor the naming convention if that name receives the majority of votes.

“The same way as we have so far been building it in full sight of the public, we will seek that the name is accepted by the public as well.”

Voting runs through April and right now Norris has 1,157 votes, 74 percent of the total. The next closest name choice Maria Theresa Bridge” has just 8 percent of the overall vote.

Chuck Norris is best known for his roles in Lone Wolf, The Delta Force and his TV series Walker: Texas Ranger.

It looks like people will soon be walking all over Chuck Norris, that’s a first.
