People reports that Sparks talked of working with Houston:

“The first day she got [to the set] she’s scolding me, and I’m thinking this is the best day ever,” adding, “She went from being this unreachable supernova pop star to my costar, friend and someone who was like a mentor to me. It was a gift and an honor to play opposite Whitney Houston in the film.”

After her brief speech, Sparks performed a a special tribute to the “I Will Always Love You” singer by singing a song from the film called “Look into Your Heart.”

E!Online points out that up until now, Sparks has been quiet on the singer’s passing, but she broke her silence on the subject Thursday when she revealed to Entertainment Tonight’s Chris Jacobs that she’s been taking the tragic loss of her co-star and friend the only way she knows how; one day at a time.

“It comes in waves,” explained 22-year-old Sparks. “I’m definitely trying to process it a little bit. I am just very blessed to have got to know her for the short time that I did. She was incredible.”
