Whitney Houston’s old friend, Chaka Khan, has been speaking about the grave condition of Bobbi Kristina Brown, who has been on a life support machine for two months.
The 22-year-old daughter of the iconic singer has been in a coma after being found face down in a bathtub. And while talking to the Mirror, Khan depressingly admitted that she wasn’t “shocked” by her plight, but did confess, “I was definitely hurt, disappointed.”
Khan revealed that she has been in close discussions with various members of the Houston family, and that she has constantly offered her assistance during this time of need.
“I’ve been in conversation with the family,” Khan confessed. “Everyone’s devastated, everyone. I love Bobbi Kristina, I love Whitney, I love Bobby Brown. I love Cissy — I love them all.”
Khan added that her thoughts and prayers are still with the family, and that she just plans to be there for each of them. “But we just have to wait for what happens next,” she added. “All I want to do is be there for them. I just need to pray.”
But despite her positive thoughts, Khan couldn’t help but admit that Houston would be disappointed with the tragedy.
“Whitney would be devastated,” she continued. “I wish she was here. You really don’t know what this is like for a mother until it happens to you. I think I’m pretty close to feeling what she would have felt and what she’s feeling right now, wherever she is.”
Khan and Whitney Houston were old friends. The 62-year-old was one of the many mourners at the singer’s funeral back in 2012, while she has also had to battle her own drug addiction. But despite her past, she admitted to being disappointed that drugs were found at Bobbi Kristina’s home at the time of her accident.
Speaking about her own past, Chaka, who was born Yvette Stevens, declared, “I call myself an ex-addict. For years I was having fun and it all made fun more fun for me. But life changes. As entertainers, we are highly sensitive people and there’s no way things can’t get to you. But you have to find ways to protect yourself from that c***. I’ve cut back on a lot of friends because they’ve got problems. You have to hand pick your situations.”
The circumstances surrounding Brown’s accident are eerily similar to those that led to Houston’s death in 2012. Both were found submerged in bathtubs. However, Brown was able to make a slight improvement after being moved to DeKalb Medical facility. Over the last few weeks, though, Brown hasn’t made any further improvements.
