Kealo Dead: D.C., YouTube Rapper Keaway Lafonz Ivy Killed On Set During Music Video Shoot In Maryland


Kealo, a D.C. rapper whose real name is Keaway Lafonz Ivy, was shot dead on Wednesday night. WJLA is reporting that aspiring rapper and photographer Keaway “Kealo” Ivy was on the set of a music video in Maryland when a prop gun went off, killing the up and coming YouTube rapper. He was only 21-years-old.

Police say they were dispatched to an area in the 400 block of Eastern Avenue near 62nd place in Seat Pleasant at around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday. That’s where they say they found the body of a black man lying unresponsive in the parking lot. A gunshot wound to the body was apparent. The victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was identified as Washington D.C. rapper Keaway Lagonz Ivy. The body was then transported to the local coroner’s office for an autopsy, according to Patch.com.

Witnesses at the scene told law enforcement officials that Kealo was there shooting a music video. At least 20 people were on the set when a gun suddenly fired, striking and killing Kealo in the process. The gun was believed to be a prop gun. Some have speculated that the shooting was not just an accident but murder.

WJLA is reporting that the police have a male suspect in custody. The suspect, whom police have not identified publicly, is currently charged with murder. No motive has been specified in the pending case.

Rapper Kealo Ivy was a rising star in his local community and in the YouTube rap world, where he went by the YouTube name KEALORAWTV. The Washington, D.C., native was also a father, a talented videographer, a businessman, and a music video director. Friends and family members are greatly saddened by his death.
