‘The Walking Dead’: What’s In Store for Team Rick In Season 6? [Spoilers]

Warning: Spoilers Ahead

Season 5 of the Walking Dead ended with a bang on Sunday. The whole story came to a head when the residents of Alexandria finally realized the challenges they faced when Rick (Andrew Lincoln) executed Pete (Corey Brill) after Pete sliced the throat of town leader Reg Monroe (Steve Coulter).

Writers wrapped up the season without any major deaths although it seemed tense for awhile for Glenn (Steve Yeun) when Nicholas (Michael Traynor) shot him after Glenn threatened him. The season 5 episode ended with the arrival of fan favorite Morgan (Lennie James) with Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Aaron (Ross Marquand). Morgan was previously seen in several episodes of season 1 and then once again in season 3, episode 12.

Now the Walking Dead group is facing a new enemy in season 6 called “The Wolves.” Although little is known of this group because little was shown of them in the finale, fans will find out in season 6 how much of a threat they pose to the residents of Alexandria and Team Rick. Norman Reedus, who portrays Daryl, had the following to say in an interview in The Hollywood Reporter.

“Terminus did horrible things behind the wall; they were a wimpy and in a cowardly way tricked people to going there and then they did their evil business once you got behind their walls. These guys are roamers and they seem like a whole bunch of Daryls gone south who have gone really bad and turned into wolves. They’re probably on the move; I don’t think they’re afraid to butcher people in front of people. They seem different than Terminus; Terminus was more cowardly. They would trick you into coming to Disneyland and then eat you.”

In an interview with showrunner Scott Gimple in Entertainment Weekly, he further revealed the fate facing Team Rick in The Walking Dead.

“Season 6 for a good while now, humans have been the bigger threat. At the start of our next season, that will change. I said the show reinvents itself every 8 eps, and we’re doing it again, friendos. Now that these characters know they have what it takes to survive, what are they going to do with that power? How will they choose to live? Beyond answering those questions, we’re currently putting into motion some of our most ambitious stuff yet, and things are going to get very big, loud and scary.”

Fans will have to stay tuned until the return of The Walking Dead, which usually occurs sometime in October. According to the comic book, Glenn will be bludgeoned with a barbed wire-wrapped baseball bat. Since the writers haven’t always followed the comic book, as the addition of characters like Daryl have shown, it remains to be seen whether or not another major character is killed off so quickly. Another piece of the puzzle is what role Morgan will play with his return.

Do you think Rick and Morgan will become adversaries in season 6? What do you think of the new adversaries, The Wolves?
