WWE champion Seth Rollins, back in his indie days, did an amazing moonsault off a chubby fan’s stomach.
The athletic move outside the ring was captured in a YouTube video (embedded below) in what looks like a match in a high school gym or the equivalent. He even got a high-five from the fan off whom he bounced for the high spot.
While on the independent circuit, Rollins wrestled under the name Tyler Black.
Sunday night, Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase and won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the main event at WrestleMania 31, which took place at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco. Rollins decided to wait until both Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns beat the brains out of one another and controversially get involved in the match. After rolling Lesnar out of the ring, Rollins curb stomped Reigns to win the WWE title belt.
Commenting on the moonsault footage, Barstool Sports explained that Rollins has paid his dues in the pro wrestling industry. “Nothing will ever top this move. It’s just another reason it’s great that they put the belt on Rollins. He has worked his way to the top. Gone from wrestling in middle school gyms to winning the belt in front of 76,000 people in a sold-out football stadium and millions more around the world. He’s a guy who loves wrestling and is extremely good at it too, who has worked his way to the top.”
Immediately after becoming the new WWE champion, Rollins declared that “The beautiful thing about plans is that you have to adjust on the fly… I knew these two behemoths would go out there and do what they did, beat the living h**l out of each other. I knew there would be an opportunity for me if I picked the right spot — who knows what could happen.”
Appearing on the Today show Monday morning, after which Al Roker almost tripped over the makeshift ring ropes, Seth Rollins defended his surprise intervention in the WrestleMania match. “I’ve been Mr. Money in the Bank now for almost nine months or so. I’ve won the Money in the Bank contract which I could cash in any time, any place, and I picked the grandest stage of ’em all, WrestleMania, in front of 76,000 strong … I cashed in fair and square and inserted myself into the main event at WrestleMania, and I beat Roman Reigns, I beat Brock Lesnar, that’s why I’m here with you guys today.”
Do you agree that Seth Rollins is a deserving WWE World Heavyweight Champion?
