Brett Ratner, Mariah Carey Dating Denied As She ‘Eats Away Pain’ After Nick Cannon Split, Plans Vegas Show

Brett Ratner and Mariah Carey are denying rumors that they’re dating. But after the duo were spotted out and about closely entwined, those denials may be difficult for Mariah’s followers to believe, reported People.

On vacation in exclusive resort St. Barts for her birthday, Mariah snuggled up to Brett as they shopped around the island. The rumors that she and the director of Hercules began only after she and Nick Cannon separated in August, followed by Nick’s decision to file for divorce in December.

Carey and Cannon were married for six years and parented a pair of twins. Monroe and Moroccan are now 3-years-old.

As to the rumors that Brett might become the children’s future stepfather, his representative termed that guesswork as fiction rather than fact.

As for Mariah’s future, the pop singer is busy planning her Las Vegas residency. Set to open May 6 at Caesars Palace, Carey’s extravaganza will provide the audience with her 18 top songs.

For Mariah, the split from Nick hit hard, and she’s eating away her pain with food binges, according to In Touch. And an insider said that turning to fattening foods such as pizza and ice cream is a familiar tactic for Carey.

“[She is] eating the pain away,” revealed the source. “When Mariah’s going through a difficult time, you can usually find her in the kitchen. It’s nothing new.”

In addition to feeling stressed about the end of her marriage and romance with Nick Cannon, Carey is anxious about her show, according to that insider.

“She’s excited but also nervous. It’s a lot of work, and the stress of it all is causing her to overeat.”

Dr. Fred Pescatore, author of The Hamptons Diet, commented on why people often turn to comfort foods for a temporary solution that backfires.

“People usually feel great immediately, but then the guilt sets in, which makes them eat even more,” pointed out the diet expert.

As for Mariah’s team, they’re trying to persuade her to return to the diet that helped her shed those post-twins pounds, but without success, said a source.

“When she’s not in the right headspace, she eats. Everyone knows it. Right now, she’s chowing down like crazy — and it’s got to stop.”

Carey isn’t the only famous singer to cope with problems by turning to food. As the Inquisitr reported, Barbra Streisand recently shocked her fans by describing herself as a food addict.

“I love coffee ice cream, and we go to friends’ houses and I can’t resist even the bread. I am a food addict. Tell you the truth. I am literally a food addict. I cannot stay away from foods that I love, which are bad for me — you know, like carbs that are bad.”
