Warning: Spoilers Ahead!
Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion Lannister, revealed that there’s at least one character who is safe from the slaughter in season 5 of Game of Thrones. The series creators have been trying their best to run a tight ship and prevent any story leaks, but sometimes it’s just too easy to let things slip.
Popsugar intercepted Dinklage for an interview, asking if he could get just one question answered by the Game of Thrones writers, what would it be?
After considering it for a long while, he finally answered.
“Do I die? I just wanna know.”
Just a moment later, Dinklage revealed that he already knows the answer to that question, at least for season 5.
“We are going to start [season] six soon… But I guess I just did a spoiler that I don’t die this season.”
According to the Huffington Post, the HBO Game of Thrones series makes major departures from the original books, meaning that any character could potentially die. Tyrion Lannister is safe, but other characters are not.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, after reading the scripts for season 5, one male actor found out his character is doomed, and he wasn’t all that happy about it.
We now know it wasn’t Dinklage, although it was probably a safe guess from the start.
Jaime Lannister, played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, seems pretty at risk considering the accusations and suspicions about Tyrion’s escape.
Of course, death is a normal phenomenon in Game of Thrones; sometimes survival is the more shocking detail.
Popsugar also asked Dinklage, “Jon Snow, everybody says he doesn’t know anything, does he know something?”
The American actor replied that he really didn’t know why that line gets spread around.
“Oh he knows quite a bit. Well I’ve never understood that line, because the guy’s very smart. He’s gotten a lot done. He knows a lot of things.”
At least the actor didn’t give away anymore details that time.
Dinklage isn’t the only Game of Thrones player to have difficulty keeping tight-lipped, especially while fans are waiting for the highly anticipated fifth season. Maisie Williams, the actress behind Arya Stark, revealed that her character is also in for a “big end,” but left it slightly cryptic as to what “end” really meant.
Fans have even taken to looking at actor’s haircuts as signs of Game of Thrones spoilers. Kit Harrington, who plays Jon Snow, cut off his locks — implicitly signalling that his character was gone, and he’d already moved on.
In any case, the cast have kept more than enough secrets to ensure season 5 will be surprising. Games of Thrones season 5 is set to debut on April 12th, 2015.
