Daniel Bryan On CM Punk: ‘It’s Sad To Me That He Considers Himself A Failure Because He Never Main-Evented WrestleMania’

This year’s road to WrestleMania has been somewhat bumpy, as there has been a lot of controversy surrounding the WrestleMania main event, with most WWE fans thinking that Daniel Bryan deserves to main-event the show against Brock Lesnar, and that Roman Reigns doesn’t. To some people, getting to be in the main event of WrestleMania is a big deal, but if they never get there, they don’t sweat it as long as they’re able to be involved in an important storyline and have a good match on the show. But there is one guy who considers his WWE run a failure even though he did have some classic matches at WWE’s biggest event, and that guy is CM Punk.

Daniel Bryan appeared on today’s edition of Talk is Jericho, and he talked about how extremely lucky he feels to be able to wrestle on WWE’s grandest stage, and that when he heard CM Punk say that he feels like a failure because he never main-evented WrestleMania, it made him sad, because — in his mind — Punk had a great career in WWE and he should be proud of what he accomplished during his time as a professional wrestler.

“I listened to that CM Punk podcast with Colt Cabana, and one of the things that made me sad was that he considered himself a failure because he never main-evented ‘WrestleMania.’ To me, that was sad because he was so successful.”

Both CM Punk and Daniel Bryan were never supposed to be considered as top guys in the world of WWE, and both of them shot past what they were supposed to be in WWE. However, the one thing that they don’t have in common is that Daniel Bryan was picked to not only main-event WrestleMania last year, but to have the whole show centered around him finally getting his big moment, which he did. Unfortunately, Punk never got that.

Also in the podcast with Jericho, Bryan said that he felt like the fans overreacted when he was eliminated at the Royal Rumble, and that they didn’t need to take it out on Roman Reigns. But Bryan does admit that he briefly got excited when the fans reacted the way they did because he felt like he was going to get another shot at main-eventing WrestleMania and was going to get a match with Brock Lesnar, which was scheduled to happen at this past August’s SummerSlam.

In many WWE fans’ opinion, Daniel Bryan isn’t in the spot he should be in right now, but Bryan seems like he’s okay with it and is excited to participate in the Intercontinental Championship ladder match on Sunday.
