Zayn Malik: The Shocking Reason Why He Left One Direction

Zayn Malik quit One Direction because the pressures of fame were too much for him, according to a new Hollywood Life report. The celebrity gossip site revealed that this could be the reason why the dark haired Brit left the globally successful boy band. With what started out as cheating allegations turned into something more. Zayn reportedly decided that he wanted to leave the band before things really turned south.

A source told Hollywood Life, “He was losing a grasp on who he was and what he really wanted. Zayn felt like he had to quit 1D or he would die! He just couldn’t handle everything that came from the insanity of fame and being a huge celebrity.”

Maybe Malik’s rumored drug abuse is finally coming to light. He knew he had to get away from the temptations, including girls.

“Before being in One Direction he was just a goofy kid who never really fit in. He didn’t have a ton of friends and was awkward in social situations. Suddenly he was thrust into the limelight of being on world tours. He had girls being thrown at him, drinks being handed to him and he was supposed to be the coolest kid in the club.

“All the temptations were just too much for him. He was losing a grasp on who he was and what he really wanted, while not making the best decisions.”

The insider also touched on Zayn’s sudden weight loss and skinny appearance.

“The stress and everything was really effecting his health. He wasn’t eating well and was losing weight. He definitely didn’t look like his old self. Zayn was scared that if he kept on this path he would end up in jail or even worse, dead.”

In fact, another Hollywood Life report said that Malik was hinting about leaving for years. His tweet on September 17, 2011 may have revealed he thought of leaving the boy band four years ago.

Zayn’s tweet said, “There comes a day when you release turning the page is the best feeling in the world.”

Zayn Malik released a statement saying he was leaving One Direction on Wednesday, March 25. This announcement was enough for fans to go wild on social media. Malik made the shocking announcement on his Facebook page.

“My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I’d like to apologise to the fans if I’ve let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world.”
