The Powerball jackpot for March 25 is worth a cool $40 million. While it’s not the biggest jackpot in the history of the multi-state lottery game, it’s certainly enough to pay off some bills and make life a lot more comfortable.
M Live reports that there hasn’t been a substantial jackpot since the $564 million jackpot was split between three ticket holders on February 11, and the $136 million winning ticket sold in New York for the March 14 drawing. Since then, the jackpots have been much smaller, hovering around the $40 million minimum.
According to the Multi State Lottery Association, the most recent winner was a ticket holder in Tennessee who won the $50 million Powerball jackpot on March 21. The numbers drawn were 11,16, 30, 38,42 and PB 7.
The winning numbers for March 25 are: 7, 19, 23, 50, 54 PB 14
Because there was a winner on Saturday, the grand prize is back down to $40 million for tonight’s drawing. The odds of winning it all are a bit daunting: 1 in 175 million. According to the National Safety Council, you have a better chance (1 in 135,000) of getting struck by lightning than winning the Powerball jackpot.
If you have a ticket and don’t care about the odds, the winning numbers are announced at approximately 11 p.m. ET on these local TV channels, and subsequently posted to the Powerball website shortly after the drawing. It takes several hours — often longer — for lottery officials to determine if there is a winner.
If you match all six numbers in tonight’s drawing, you can choose to take home a lump sum or get your payout over the course of 30 years. The lump sum payout for the $40 million jackpot is $26.8 million —and that’s before taxes.
Just in case you haven’t checked your tickets from previous drawings, here are the results of the Powerball drawings that have taken place to date during the month of March.
- March 25: 7, 19, 23, 50, 54 PB 14

Even if you don’t match all 6 numbers on your Powerball ticket, there is still a chance that you may have won a lesser prize. There is a $1 million prize up for grabs if you match 5 numbers (no Powerball); $10,000 if you match 4 numbers and the Powerball; and $100 if you match four numbers.
Powerball numbers are drawn at 11 p.m. ET every Wednesday and Saturday. Ticket sales close approximately one hour before the drawing (varies by location) at lottery retailers in 44 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
