WWE Expecting Roman Reigns To Be Heavily Booed At ‘WrestleMania’ Now That Brock Lesnar Has Officially Re-Signed With WWE

Now that it’s been made official that Brock Lesnar is staying with WWE, and that he’s closed the door on the UFC and MMA in general, WWE is expecting Roman Reigns to be heavily booed at this Sunday’s WrestleMania. Over the last several years, WWE has to have a happy ending at WrestleMania, which is leading many WWE fans to speculate on how WWE will book the finish to the Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns main-event.

Dave Metlzer of the Wrestling Observer believes that Roman Reigns defeating Brock Lesnar and winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in a complete babyface manner is out of the question at this point, and that it’s obvious that — at least for now — Reigns needs to be a heel.

“It’s impossible [for Brock Lesnar to not be a huge babyface at WrestleMania.] The idea of Roman Reigns winning the WWE Championship in a babyface manner from Lesnar — I just don’t see that as a booking possibility anymore.”

The idea of Brock Lesnar beginning his babyface run at WrestleMania has been thrown around, as has the idea of Roman Reigns joining The Authority. The scenario has been laid out like this: Reigns defeats Lesnar at WrestleMania, Lesnar lays out Reigns the next night on RAW, Rollins decides to cash in his Money in the Bank contract, Paul Heyman screws Rollins out of the win, The Authority comes out, they turn on Rollins and embrace Reigns and Heyman.

The other idea that’s been thrown around is a simple one, which just involves Reigns winning the title, and having Rollins successfully cash in either at WrestleMania, or on the following night’s RAW.

At this past Monday’s RAW— before Lesnar had announced his new deal with WWE — the fans in attendance at the Staples Center heavily favored Brock Lesnar over Roman Reigns. At that same night’s SmackDown taping when Lesnar wasn’t around, the fans continued to boo Reigns out of the building.

There’s still a possibility that Vince McMahon will convince himself that the boos aren’t going to last, and that he’ll have Roman Reigns defeat Brock Lesnar in a complete babyface manner on Sunday, but most people aren’t expecting McMahon to be that naive.

With the crowd reacting to Reigns the way they are, and with Lesnar re-signing with WWE, this Sunday’s WrestleMania just became significantly more interesting, as nobody really knows what’s going to happen in the main-event.
