WWE News: WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar Officially Re-Signs With WWE

In a major story, current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar has decided to leave the MMA world behind. Brock was on ESPN’s SportsCenter today and let us all know that he officially closed to the door on UFC. Instead, he re-signed with WWE last night at the WWE RAW taping in L.A. It was widely assumed he had not signed, as WWE didn’t update us on anything nor did any news outlet get anything on him. So, it appears that WWE was waiting for Lesnar to announce it today.

Brock claimed it was a hard decision to make, but claimed, “the fighter inside of me wants to compete,” but that he’s an older caveman. His MMA career is over, but his pro-wrestling career is not.

Triple H commented on the re-signing today once Brock was off the show, saying as follows.

“@BrockLesnar is a global attraction. Happy to have him re-sign a multi-year contract with @WWE. @espn @MichelleDBeadle

Lesnar being back in WWE knowing that he could go to UFC is a major thing. Brock is the current WWE World Champion, but that is not the biggest thing. Rather, the biggest thing is the money Lesnar brings to the table for WWE. When Lesnar is on screen, ratings are up. When Lesnar appears on PPVs, numbers have been better.

Lesnar has been a huge part of WWE in 2014 and 2015. Not only did he end The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania when he beat him last year at the 30th installment of the show, but he also destroyed the face of the WWE in John Cena. Since then, he has been unstoppable and has looked like a legit athletic beast so unbeatable that seemingly no one would be able to beat him.

This also throws an interesting question into WrestleMania 31 plans for the main event. We had heard rumors that Triple H wanted Brock to retain and be beaten down the line because many were against Roman Reigns winning. It would also throw a huge swerve into the Lesnar equation by allowing him to continue being on the roll he’s on.

If Lesnar did not re-sign with WWE, Reigns would walk out champion and we may see Paul Heyman walk with him. Now, anything can happen. Lesnar may have decided to sign knowing he’ll win the main event of WrestleMania and retain. He may not care about that and held out to get a bigger and better deal.

While the details of Lesnar’s new WWE contract is unknown at this time outside of the length, the most important thing is that he has re-signed with the company. WWE Chairman Vince McMahon has been attempting to get Lesnar to re-sign for some time now. The two even were involved in a yelling match that led to Brock walking out of a RAW taping. So, it is interesting that Lesnar now has suddenly decided to re-sign. So what WWE gave him to stay must have been really good, because Lesnar had serious money waiting for him in UFC just as well.
