WWE SmackDown Spoilers From The January 23 Taping — Brief Brock Lesnar Update

WWE SmackDown is usually taped on Tuesday nights, but due to WWE wanting all of their wrestlers to start getting ready for WrestleMania weekend, they got the taping out of the way tonight immediately following RAW.

Jimmy Uso — who is one of the participants in the Tag-Team Championship fatal-four-way match at WrestleMania — competed in a fatal-four-way match here against Big E, Cesaro and Fernando to open up the SmackDown taping. Jimmy Uso got the win here, as he pinned Fernando.

The WWE Divas — AJ Lee, Paige, Nikki and Brie Bella — were up next. AJ came out and ran down the Bellas in a promo, and she also added that herself and Paige have made up since RAW. In case you missed it, AJ accidentally caused Paige to lose her WWE Divas Championship match to Nikki Bella. Afterwards, Paige believed that AJ did it on purpose out of jealousy, and attacked AJ. The two of them had a short brawl before being pulled apart. After AJ says that herself and Paige have made up, herself and Paige just continue going back and forth with the Bellas on the mic, hyping their tag-team match at WrestleMania.

In the SmackDown main-event, John Cena teamed up with Mark Henry, Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns to take on Bray Wyatt, Seth Rollins, Big Show and Kane. The crowd heavily booed Roman Reigns, and chanted Daniel Bryan throughout nearly the entire match, as Bryan got the best reaction of anyone on the show. The team of John Cena, Mark Henry, Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns got the win in the main-event.

There’s still no backstage word on whether or not WWE was able to re-sign Brock Lesnar, as that is crucial to what their plans will be come Sunday night. If Lesnar did re-sign, chances are that WWE will have him retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. If he doesn’t, he’ll lose the title to Reigns, and he’ll be written off of WWE television the next night, as WWE is planning for The Undertaker to get his revenge on Lesnar on the post-WrestleMania RAW if Lesnar decides to leave for the UFC.

There are no WWE live events for the rest of the week, as WWE wants to make sure everyone is fresh and rested for its biggest show of the year. The next time a WWE superstar steps into the ring it will be at WrestleMania.
