India Vs. Australia Cricket Live Online: World Cup Semifinal Streaming — Does India Have A Chance?

Catch India vs. Australia cricket live online when the two nations square off in what promises to be an explosive World cup semi-final, with two of the three nations to win the Cup more than once battling for a chance to claim yet another.

But does India stand a chance in Thursday’s match? While most cricket experts favor Australia — based largely on India’s uninspiring showing in a January ODI tri-series and Australia’s home advantage — don’t count India out of this one just yet.

As the match draws closer, the tide of opinion appears to be shifting toward India, and the chance they could pull off an upset of Australia — a nation that has won the Cricket World Cup four times out of the 10 tournaments played since 1975.

Why does India have a chance despite their prior lack-luster play? It all comes down to the venue — the Sydney Cricket Ground in Australia’s biggest city. The SCG is believed to have a pitch that favors India’s spin bowlers. And spin is an area where cricket pundits say that Australia’s game is lacking.

Former Australia Captain Ian Chappell is wary of his nation’s chances against in-form India bowlers such as Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja and worries that Australia simply does not have a “top class spinner” to take advantage of the SCG pitch.

“What happened in tri-series doesn’t matter. Sydney is the best venue for India to play Australia. This is different Indian team under MS Dhoni and the bowlers are thinking about taking wickets,” Chappell told the India TV network NDTV. “Australia were shocked by Wahab and India should take a page out of that. Ravichandran Ashwin is bowling really well and the SCG pitch will help him. This is a 50-50 game for me.”

The outgoing captain of India’s arch-rival, Pakistan, agrees with Chappell.

“The Sydney pitch, everybody knows, there’s a little bit for the spinners, and both their spinners are bowling well,” Misbah-ul-Haq said on Friday. “They [Australia] are a very balanced team, but I think playing in Sydney they might just miss a good spinner.”

The match is scheduled for 11:30 pm United States Eastern Time, 8:30 pm Pacific, on Wednesday night, March 25 — that’s 2:30 pm Thursday local time in Sydney, and 9am in Mumbai, India.
