Taraji P. Henson Takes Son Out Of College For Being Racially Profiled
Taraji P. Henson is taking action after her 20-year-old son Marcel was racially profiled on campus. Henson, whose son attended the University of Southern California, experienced unfair treatment by the police. In order to alleviate her own worries about her son, Henson decided to pull him out of college.
Speaking with Uptown magazine, the Empire actress revealed that she decided to pull Marcel out of the University of Southern California, and transfer him to a historically black college, Howard University in Washington, DC.
This isn’t the first time Henson’s son has been racially profiled by cops. The actress told the magazine, “My child has been racially profiled. He was in Glendale, California and did exactly everything the cops told him to do, including letting them illegally search his car. It was bogus because they didn’t give him the ticket for what he was pulled over for.”

She continued to explain what happened when he went to the University of Southern California.
“Then he’s at University of Southern California, the school that I was going to transfer him to, when police stopped him for having his hands in his pockets. So guess where he’s going? Howard University. I’m not paying $50K so I can’t sleep at night wondering is this the night my son is getting racially profiled on campus.”
Taraji P. Henson has raised her son alone. Marcel’s father was murdered in the mid 2000s. Back in 2012, the actress was on The Wendy Williams Show to promote Think Like A Man. The conversation turned to her son, who was 17 at the time.

“I don’t spoil my son. He earned it,” she said while referring to his Honda Civic Hybrid. Of his father she said, “I was so in love. He was my high school sweet heart and we were together for 8 years. He looks just like his father.”

When it came to speaking about Marcel’s personality she said, “He loves me to death, but I raised an independent young man, and I’m very hands-on.”
