Bruce Jenner’s gender transition has been the worst kept secret in celebrity reality television history.
Just over a year ago, mere months after the end of his marriage to Kris, Bruce Jenner started a series of cosmetic and surgical changes that raised eyebrows. First, he grew his hair out. Then came the tracheal shave. While Jenner insisted that the procedure had no deeper meaning, multiple news outlets noted that the procedure is often a step in gender reassignment. By the fall of 2014, Bruce Jenner was sporting long, thicker locks and painted fingernails, and rumors about gender reassignment became a regular part of reports about the Keeping Up with the Kardashian star.
Whether you love the Kardashians or love to hate them, you’ve probably gotten used to the coverage of Bruce Jenner’s sex change. Reaction statements from his children have become commonplace, though not all of them have been genuine. As previously reported by the Inquisitr,Us Weekly recently retracted a reaction statement from daughter Kendall Jenner after it was discovered that the interview in which she allegedly made the comments never took place. So you might not recall that Jenner still hasn’t publicly confirmed the process.
In the buzz surrounding Bruce Jenner’s all-but-confirmed gender reassignment, one question has never been answered. What led the 65-year-old Jenner to decide he couldn’t live as a man any longer.
It turns out, it may be Kris Jenner’s fault.
People Magazine reports that the downfall of Bruce Jenner’s 23-year marriage to Kris Jenner was a major factor in his decision to begin the process of gender reassignment. Although, not in the way you might think.
It should come as no surprise to fans of Keeping Up with the Kardashians that Kris dominated her and Bruce Jenner’s marriage. A source close to the couple told People, “She was in charge, and he was just along for the ride. It made him feel like he didn’t have to worry so much about his identity, who he was.”
It seems the deterioration of Bruce and Kris Jenner’s marriage forced Bruce to consider his own needs and identity for the first time in years. Curiously, the source says Jenner began considering gender reassignment nearly three years ago. Does that mean that Kris and Bruce Jenner’s marriage troubles started much longer ago than any of us suspected?
As with nearly every aspect of the family’s life for the past seven years, Bruce Jenner’s journey will be chronicled in front of millions of television viewers. The first step will be Bruce Jenner’s official “coming out” during the current season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. There are also plans for an interview with Diane Sawyer. Plans for a docuseries focusing on Bruce Jenner have been put on hold following a horrific car crash that led to the death of one of Jenner’s neighbors.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Bruce Jenner is widely expected to complete his gender reassignment this summer.
