‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Spoilers: Ward’s Return, Edward James Olmos’ Role, And Luke Mitchell’s Debut

Skye could use all the help she can get learning to control her powers and understand what has happened to her right now on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and help may be coming in the form of a new character – a new Inhuman character – in an upcoming episode.

The most recent Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode showed that things weren’t what they seemed when it came to Skye and her control of her powers. While she seemed to be able to control her tremors and did start talking to Andrew, May’s ex whom she called in to give Skye a psychological evaluation, it was when her skin became bruised one of the times she tried to stop the tremors that the truth was revealed. Instead of stopping the tremors, she was just turning them inward, resulting in 75 hairline fractures in her body and the need to find a way to not only protect the world, but Skye herself from the damage her power could inflict.

While her father, Cal, is someone who can possibly help Skye, TVLine has revealed that Luke Mitchell’s character, Lincoln, will be showing up “next month” and is “a charismatic Inhuman who has an important role to play in Skye understanding the true extent of her transformation.”

The site also has the first photo of Mitchell as Lincoln, and other than showing that he’s clearly making some sort of grand entrance to someone, it reveals absolutely nothing about what to expect from his character (though “charismatic” does somehow seem like a good word to use to describe him by that photo alone).

But first, in next week’s episode, “Love in the Time of Hydra,” Ward is back, and on a personal mission with Agent 33, Hunter finds out more about what Bobbi and Mack are up to, and Edward James Olmos guest stars as Robert Gonzales. Regarding Olmos’ guest spot, Comicbook.com has noted that an ad in Marvel comics teases that he is tied to this “real S.H.I.E.L.D.” Mack told Hunter he and Bobbi are working for at the very end of the previous Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. So who exactly is Robert Gonzales?

“Has Coulson met his match?” teases the ad with Olmos in front of this “real S.H.I.E.L.D.’s” logo.

You can also get a look at Olmos as Gonzales in the promo for “Love in the Time of Hydra” below.

Ward is back in this next episode, and Entertainment Weekly has posted new art from Annie Wu featuring Ward and also spoke with executive producer Jeff Bell about what to expect and what he’s been doing since he was last seen.

“We call this ‘Love in the Time of Hydra,’ and so you’re going to see what happened. At he end of ‘What They Become,’ which was our mid-season finale, Agent 33 and Ward limp off together towards the sunset. And this episode will bring us up to date and see what that has meant. And as the poster suggests, love is in the air.”

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
