According to Ion Productions, some possible uses for the device include clearing off snow/ice, killing off weeds, starting bonfires, insect control. The company concludes that the flamethrower is “a fun device to enjoy with friends.”

As if the mere mention of a legal flamethrower isn’t appealing enough, the XM42 will be available in three finishes: brushed aluminum for $699, and either a polished aluminum or colored powder coat for $799.

The company assures that the flamethrower won’t break your back. The flamethrower relies on gasoline. This means, you can easily “tank-up” at your nearest gas station, although it might be a wise idea if you refrain from taking your flamethrower there.

As for the capabilities of the XM42 handheld flamethrower, it can shoot out a flame up to 25ft which needless to say, is a whole lot further than your typical weed-killing flamethrower.
