‘Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare’: Ascendance DLC Includes Map On Alien Crash Site

The second Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare DLC map pack, Ascendance, was detailed by Activision on Wednesday. PlayStation, Xbox, and PC players can look forward to four new maps, including one set at an alien crash site, plus an all new Exo Zombies episode.

The Ascendance map pack will be released to the Xbox One and Xbox 360 first on Tuesday, March 31. The DLC will then be released approximately a month later to the PS4, PS3, and PC per the usual setup based on the timed exclusivity contract between Microsoft and Activision.

Developer Sledgehammer Games is upping the weirdness with the maps in the Ascendance pack. While the Havoc pack included a clown-themed motel with “Sideshow” and a mountain resort town with an avalanche in “Drift,” Ascendance features a map called “Site 244” located at the base of Mt. Rushmore where an alien spacecraft has crashed and another named “Climate” set inside a bio-dome utopia.

The other two maps are traditional Call of Duty-style maps with “Perplex” taking place in an apartment complex and the other, “Chop Shop,” located in an industrial complex. The latter at least has player controlled EMP turret scorestreak to liven things up.

Here is the official description of all four new maps for the Advanced Warfare: Ascendance DLC.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare - Ascendance - Perplex (PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC)

Perplex: Get vertical in Sydney as you fight to dominate this five-story modular apartment complex. Take the high ground or blast through the close-quarters interior in this small to medium sized map. Adapt your strategy mid-match when construction drones shift apartment modules, creating new routes and cover positions.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare - Ascendance - Site 244 (PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC)

Site 244: An alien spacecraft has crash landed, spilling its mysterious cargo under the shadow of Mt. Rushmore, USA. This medium to large three-lane map allows for any style of gameplay, focusing combat through the space ship’s fuselage and around the debris-littered landscape. Use the map-based scorestreak to crack open an alien spore and instantly enhance your perks and exo abilities.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare - Ascendance - Climate (PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC)

Climate: Fight your way through a futuristic man-made utopia in this lush, climate-controlled enclosure. In this small to medium sized circular map, land and water routes channel frenetic combat around the central island structure. Watch your step when the river water changes from an asset into a deadly bubbling obstacle.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare - Ascendance - Chop Shop (PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC)

Chop Shop: Think fast as you make your way through the black market exoskeleton industrial complex and engage in fast-paced shootouts in this medium sized, symmetrical map. Activate the map-based scorestreak to take control of an Advanced Repulsion Turret that radiates a deadly microwave EMP to help lock down key areas.

The new Exo Zombies episode is Infection and returns all four of the same Atlas characters portrayed by John Malkovich, Bill Paxton, Rose McGowan, and Jon Bernthal. Judging by the image released, they’ve escaped the Atlas facility, but will face new enemies like the Goliath and Acid Dripper.

New weapons and traps are naturally included in the new Exo Zombies episode. Sledgehammer is also throwing in the Civilian Extraction Mode though. Players will not only need to be concerned with their survival, but those of hapless civilians too.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare - Ascendance - Exo Zombies (PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC)

Sledgehammer is also throwing in the OHM and OHM Werewolf hybrid energy weapons in with the pack. Both can be used either as a LMG or as a shotgun, but the Werewolf is a custom variant that increases your mobility.

Finally, a Exo Grapple Playlist will be added with the Ascendance DLC. All players will be equipped with the Exo Grapple ability to reach heights faster.
