Three Young Brothers Stabbed To Death In New Bern, North Carolina


Three young brothers were stabbed to death in New Bern, North Carolina. Two other members of the same family were injured in the grizzly attack. The boys, aged 1, 5, and 12, were reportedly killed with a “machete-like” knife during the late evening hours on Tuesday.

New Bern, North Carolina police found the dead bodies of two of the brothers upon entering the home. The third little boy was still breathing when the law enforcement officers arrived, but he died shortly later at a local hospital. A sister and the mother of the boys were in home at the time of the stabbing and were also injured. The juvenile girl and the mother were treated for their wounds and have been released from the hospital.

Eh Lar Doh Htoo, an 18-year-old neighbor, was arrested and charged with the gruesome slayings. New Bern police officers found the young man still inside the home upon their arrival to the crime scene. The father of the three young brothers stabbed to death inside their home, was at work during the time of the attack.

New Bern Police Chief Toussaint Summers, Jr. said that the three brothers stabbed to death and their family were all Burmese and had come to America from Thailand. A language barrier complicated the police investigation, according to the New Bern police official.

Eh Lar Doh Htoo, who knew all of the victims, was arrested on assault with a deadly weapon charges, local news station WITN, reports. Although Chief Summers was not prepared to release details about a motive in the case, he did state that the slaying of the three brothers “wasn’t a random event.”

The home of the murdered boys is reportedly within walking distance from the police department on the 800 block of Pasteur Street in New Bern. A 911 call was placed reporting that “someone with a knife” was seen either in or near the home. EH Lar Dh Htoo is also Burmese and possibly from Thailand as well. He is currently being held on a $1 million bail at the Craven County Jail.
