‘Teen Mom’ Stars Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra Open Up About Turning Their Lives Around

Teen Mom made Tyler Baltierra and Catelynn Lowell known around the world and ever since their appearance on the show, they have been open about their lives. They most recently released a memoir, Conquering Chaos, which details some of the darker times in their lives, the times that happened before the cameras. The couple recently opened up to Radar Online and revealed that, had the situation that brought the cameras around not happened, they may not have cleaned up their lives.

Anyone who has watched the show knows that Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra had a rough upbringing. Tyler’s dad and Catelynn’s mom (who later became a couple before splitting up) were addicts. Tyler recently revealed that he attempted suicide at a young age and also opened up about sexual abuse that he endured when young, as previously reported by the Inquisitr. Most recently, though, he opened up about a near drug overdose.

Tyler Baltierra explained that he had taken part in huffing. Huffing is dangerous and although Tyler admits to knowing that know, at the time he overdosed and suffered a seizure. The experience was enough to scare the future Teen Mom star into not doing it again, though. In fact, his fiancé, Catelynn Lowell, admits that neither she nor Tyler live a partying lifestyle these days.

Catelynn recently gave birth to the couple’s second daughter, Novalee. They placed their first daughter, Carly, up for adoption, a hard decision that was chronicled on 16 and Pregnant, the show that led to Teen Mom. Tyler admitted to Radar Online that the adoption was the situation that showed the couple they needed to turn their lives around.

“If Carly never happened, we would definitely be doing the same stuff. We didn’t have any plans or any goals. Carly changed our whole lives.”

Teen Mom Catelynn Lowell also admitted that the adoption helped them to turn their lives around and make better decisions, adding that by doing so, they are showing Carly they placed her for adoption for a reason.

“Being so young and having to make a grown up decision made me think about the world and it definitely changed our perspective. Now we have someone on this earth to live for and do great things for. We have to prove to her that we placed her for adoption for a reason, so we could better our lives.”

Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra will return to Teen Mom on March 23. The cameras will catch up with their lives since the show ended and also chronicle Catelynn’s second pregnancy.
