Lionel Messi Makes Eibar Players Look Like Fools With Mazy Run

Lionel Messi is currently in a rich vein of form. Messi has now scored 43 goals this season after he added two more against Eibar to take Barcelona clear at the top of the La Liga table.

However, despite his brace, Messi’s finest moment of Saturday’s encounter came when he went on a mesmerising run, which proved why he is regarded as one of the best players to have ever graced a soccer field.

You can check out Messi’s moment of genius below.

Messi ran with the ball for seventy yards, taking out four Eibar players and even nutmegging two of them along the way too.

It was a maneuver that only Lionel Messi could have produced, as he effortlessly, but powerfully made his way up the field, all while the ball stayed glued to his feet.

After passing the ball to his teammate, he then moved on into the area and was almost on the receiving end of his cross too. However the ball fell just behind him and Messi was unable to finish off the move with the goal that it deserved.

Messi was a constant threat throughout the contest, and it was no surprise when he was the reason that Barcelona were awarded the penalty that set them on the way to victory.

Messi’s shot was ruled to have been blocked by Borja Ekiza, and the Argentinian then decided to step up and take the penalty himself. Messi converted the effort in the 31st minute, and then in the 55th minute he headed home an Ivan Rakitic corner to extend Barca’s lead.

Despite his incredible recent form, Lionel Messi risked the ire of Barcelona fans earlier this week after a video of him almost running over a group of supporters following a training session emerged.

According to the Mirror, the fans had all arrived to get a glimpse of their idol as he exited Barcelona’s facilities. They stood in the middle of the road, and waved their phones in the hope of getting an image of Messi.

However, Lionel didn’t actually stop and the fans were forced to quickly dive out of the way, otherwise they would have been mowed down by his huge car.

Lionel Messi’s imperious La Liga form since January means that he has now scored 20 goals since the turn of the year. More than the combined total of Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and his rival, Cristiano Ronaldo.
