Since its late 2013 debut, Disney’s animated film, Frozen, has captivated audiences and won the hearts of little girls all over the world. Frozen has catapulted to the top performing, highest grossing animated film of all time, beating out Toy Story 3 by a thin margin, according to a 2014 report by Variety. Disney has responded to Frozen fans’ fervor by debuting Frozen Fever, a very short feature that appears before the full-length, live-action movie Cinderella, and announcing plans for a sequel, Frozen 2.
Beginning today, the short 7-minute feature, Frozen Fever, will air preceding all Cinderella showings. Frozen Fever features original cast members Idina Menzel as Elsa, Kristin Bell as Anna, Josh Gad as Olaf, and Jonathan Groff as Kristoff. The actors came together to film the quick show, along with the original directors and songwriters.
Speaking of songs, Frozen Fever introduces a new melody for your children to sing. Perhaps “Make Today A Perfect Day” will enjoy the same popularity as the Frozen smash hit, “Let It Go.” Watch this trailer to see the new Snowgies, which appear to be minion-like tiny snowmen.
Despite the excitement behind the announcement of Frozen 2, which is expected to be released sometime in 2018, very little is known about what Frozen 2 will entail. The Guardian reports that the original cast is expected to return for this endeavor, as well. In fact, Josh Gad has confirmed his portrayal of Olaf in Frozen 2, while Kristin Bell and Idina Menzel appear to be on board.
Chief creative officer for Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios, John Lasseter, shares his motivation behind the Frozen sequel.
“We enjoyed making Frozen Fever so much and being back in that world with those characters. Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck have come up with a great idea for a sequel and you will be hearing a lot more about it and we’re taking you back to Arendelle. We are so excited about that.”
Even Kim Kardashian and daughter North West are joining in the celebration. While modeling her new blonde tresses, Kim K had fun posing as the lovely Frozen snow queen, to the delight of her young daughter.
