‘The Sims 4’ Upcoming Expansion ‘Get To Work’ Confirmed To Feature New Baking, Photography Skills

With the Get to Work expansion scheduled to release next month, Electronic Arts is busy promoting the first full-blown content expansion for The Sims 4 with videos, news, and more. This week, a new video highlighting a new skill and the upcoming ability to run a retail business was revealed on the title’s official website.

The video, and an accompanying narrative, touch on a number of features of The Sims 4 expansion Get to Work. In previous previews, fans of The Sims 4 have got a chance to check out three new active jobs where they can control their Sims while at work. Those careers include doctors, detectives, and scientists, but even a Sim with a job from the base game can enjoy the entrepreneur side of Get to Work.

As the trailer shows off, Sims can run their own business in Get to Work. This will be the first time Sims and players will get to do so in The Sims 4. Sims will be able to sell anything found in Buy Mode in their own stores, or, if they are so inclined, they can sell their own creations. The trailer specifically shows a Sim selling woodworking creations, but other creations like paintings and books are likely fair game, as well.

A few new skills can contribute to Sims’ offerings at their new stores. The Sims 4 trailer mentions baking and photography as skills used to sell creations in a retail store. Both can be mastered to sell goods to other Sims for a profit. Bakers will, obviously, bake goods for their patrons, while photographers can clearly set up backdrops and capture Sims in time with elegant photographs. Users can even put filters over the images in The Sims 4 before they sell them.

Sims running a retail business in The Sims 4 can also hire employees, decide what they wear for work, and follow them as they earn experience to be better salesmen. Experienced salespeople will sell products faster and have an easier time doing so.

Other upcoming features mentioned in the trailer include basements, a brand new neighborhood, and new job-related perks. The Sims 4 official Twitter account verified the addition of basements and added that they will be a part of a free update that does not require the expansion. That update is expected to release by the end of this month, giving players another layer of building construction under the ground.

As reported by the Inquisitr, Maxis, the developer behind The Sims 4, was recently shut down. Get to Work, other expansions, and add-on packs like Outdoor Retreat are still likely to be released, even with the studio’s closure. Get to Work is set to release in April. Are you more interested in the new active jobs or running your own retail store in the upcoming expansion for The Sims 4?
