‘Grand Theft Auto V’ Online Servers Returning To Normal After Heist Launch

The launch of the much anticipated heist missions for Grand Theft Auto Online could’ve gone smoother for Rockstar Games. After the patch leaked early for some users, the servers were slammed with everyone trying to access the game’s new feature. As a result, Rockstar’s GTA Online servers were down to many users yesterday thanks to immense server load.

Many outlets reported on outages, especially with Xbox Live also going down yesterday. The outages of GTA Online after the heist launch mirrors those of the broken servers at the service’s launch in 2013. After the initial console release, Grand Theft Auto Online released about a month afterwards with a myriad of issues. Many players couldn’t connect and play GTA during those first few weeks, so after the servers went down yesterday, many speculated it could be a repeat of what happened prior.

However, Grand Theft Auto V players can rest assured, as it seems Rockstar games has fixed the issue and everything has been running smoothly since this morning. While some may still experience minor issues, the broader connectivity problems that plagued GTA V yesterday are pretty much cleared up on most platforms. However, at the time of this writing, some Grand Theft Auto players on Sony’s PlayStation platforms might still be seeing issues, via reports on the Rockstar Support page.

Heists in Grand Theft Auto allow players to team up and progress through a series of missions culminating in a large-scale heist mission. These missions take some time, with some players reporting multi-hour sessions to get the job done, but the payoff can be substantial. Per a report on IGN’s wiki, players can earn a payout from between $100,000 to $10,000,000 per heist. However, with a player needing to front the cost of the heist itself, the payoff needs to be worth it.

Rockstar brought more to the table with their heist missions in Grand Theft Auto with the recent update as well. In a report by the Inquisitr, the new heists also bring with them new weapons and vehicles for characters to terrorize San Andreas with, such as jets, armored trucks, helicopters, and so on. This new arsenal gives players more options to live out their crime-spreeing dreams in Grand Theft Auto with even more variety than already available.
