Iggy Azalea’s Great Escape As Tour Postponed As Rapper Quits Social Media

Australian rapper Iggy Azalea has had to postpone her “Great Escape” tour for at least five months. This latest blow comes hot on the heels of Azalea withdrawing from social media and handing control of her accounts to her management representatives. According to the BBC her record company, Def Jam Records, released a statement confirming that Iggy Azalea was postponing the tour, due to commence next month, until September.

A spokesperson said, “to accommodate for creative team availability and tour production plans, it was determined that the tour will not be ready.”

“It’s important to Iggy that she delivers the show she envisaged to share with her fans and that requires more time in development.”

In a further blow to Iggy Azalea both support acts for the tour have announced that they will be unable to meet the rescheduled dates this fall. According to MTV Nick Jonas took to Twitter to announce that he would be unable to support Iggy Azalea’s tour but offered some hope to his fans hinting that he will play some shows this spring.

Fellow Iggy Azalea support act Tinashe has also announced that she cannot make Iggy’s new dates. She too took to Twitter to announce that “unfortunately I won’t be participating in the Great Escape Tour, but I would never disappoint, I will be on tour this summer! Details soon!”

According to Billboard, The Wrap have reported that all is not well in Iggy Azalea’s camp. They report that Azalea “is increasingly unresponsive to her management and refuses to engage in promotion.”

A source told The Wrap that Azalea “has become disengaged from her core team, one individual with knowledge of the situation said, and will not commit to press opportunities crucial in selling the massive effort.”

According to MTV a representative from Iggy Azalea’s management team also went on to deny claims that a conflict between Azalea and her management led to the tour being delayed.

Iggy Azalea recently told CQ Magazine of her hopes for the tour explaining that “It’s my first arena tour, and I’d like it to not be my last arena tour.”

Iggy continued by explaining her hopes for the tour.

“I want everything to be right, at the moment, I’m just trying to work on the initial stage design and making a stage that I feel like can engage with many people in an arena that big. So I’m doing something maybe not very traditional, and I’m working on that.”

According to MTV Iggy Azalea’s “Great Escape” tour will now kick off in San Diego on September 18 and the U.S. leg finishes in Glendale, AZ on October 27.
