Fattest Man In China Prompted To Lose Weight Following Public Humiliation

The fattest man in China, who weighed a heart-stopping 490 pounds at his most obese, reportedly lost roughly 170 pounds from dieting hard over the last five years in a determined effort to lose weight.

The 26-year-old Chinaman, Liang Yong from the city of Chongqing in south-western China, was prompted to lose the weight after having suffered humiliation when he was carried on a reinforced trolley through the streets of the city as he couldn’t fit into an ambulance.

Although he was a heavyset guy all his life, Yong reportedly began to suffer from health issues as he entered his twenties, due to his weight.

When he was unable to fit into the ambulance to take him to the hospital, and needed to be wheeled there, he felt totally humiliated and saw the incident as a call to action, prompting him to shed a quarter of his bodyweight.

In speaking to reporters about himself, and his amazing weight loss story, Yong said, “It was not a record to be proud of when I was named the fattest man in China and was told it was officially registered at the Chinese record headquarters in 2007, but now I’m hoping to end up as the man who lost the most weight.”

Despite officially being the fattest man in China, Yong took his dieting carefully, wanting to lose weight slowly so that his skin would be able to stretch back and not leave massive stretch marks.

As Jong added, “I concentrated on a healthy diet, and regular exercise as soon as I was able to move well enough.”

A hospital near to his house offered to treat Yong free of charge as it was also interested in monitoring his progress as well as record vital data about him.

That data will apparently be used in improving the treatment of other overweight and obese people in China, as obesity there has seen a sharp increase in recent years.
