WWE News: Two Top Ring Of Honor Stars Headed To WWE NXT Soon?
For the last few weeks, we’ve heard a lot about Ring of Honor and WWE NXT. It was reported a while back that WWE was interested in signing a lot of Independent talent, especially from ROH. However, we didn’t know who they were targeting or why. Now we have an indication of who they want and where they might be headed with WWE NXT.
According to Cageside Seats, two prospects that WWE has an interest in are two men who form one of the greatest Indy tag teams in the world, The Briscoes. Also known as the Briscoe Brothers, the two have been killing it on the Indy scene for years and are the best tag team in ROH history, according to many. Both men are terrific, but this is not their first run with WWE.
The two were brought in years ago for a full week tryout. It was said that they were good, but lacked in areas and would simply not work at that time. Now that a new regime has come in to take over talent relations, the two are getting a call back and could be coming into WWE NXT and the WWE Performance Center. Many believe that the reason the two might be interested in coming back has to do with Kevin Owens, also known on the Indy scene as Kevin Steen.
Owens is known as a family man, and for years he plugged away working hard for his family. However, the travel of the WWE would keep him from his family for long periods of time. The Briscoes knew this as well, which is why when they weren’t signed it seemed that they considered it a good thing as it allowed for more family time. However, they are 30 and 31 respectively and Owens is now with WWE himself. The time is now or never to work for WWE for the Briscoes. They may not have long before they have to call it quits, so they obviously need to try with WWE before they end their careers.
At the end of the day, they’ll help their families tremendously with the guaranteed money WWE offers. On top of this, both men have proven they can work alone if they need to. They are accomplished performers, but they have a style that is very Indy based.
They are hard hitting and stiff. It is fun to watch because it looks realistic….because is practically is. So they will be reeled in a bit, but the fact that they can work a style that is missing in mainstream wrestling is a big deal. It also allows for WWE to improve a division that is severely lacking in talent.
Triple H is obviously a fan or he never would allow for them to come in for a tryout. The situation is that due to all the Indy talent WWE has had success with, the Briscoes are an obvious choice. WWE needs more tag teams, so what better idea to have than to bring in one of the best on the Independent scene?
They have won more tag gold on the Indy scene than just about anyone, but the time is now for them to be where they deserve to be.
WWE is obviously a tough place to be, but WWE NXT has proven to be a bigger launching pad than any Indy show in the world today. Triple H runs this amazing program with perfection and fans eat it up every week. The future is bright, which is why many top Indy performers who once scoffed at the WWE now look at it as the place to be.
WWE has proven they can do well with Indy talent, especially men from ROH. At this point, anyone with a name worthy of WWE’s time on the Indy scene may get a call. However, two of the most deserving men in the world may be the Briscoe Brothers.
