Carly Rae Jepsen Plus Tom Hanks Plus Justin Bieber Equals Something You’ll ‘Really Like’ [Video]

When Carly Rae Jepsen concocted the title for her hit “Call Me Maybe,” she probably wasn’t thinking of Tom Hanks at the other end of the phone. But the unlikely duo, with the even more unlikely addition of Justin Bieber, teamed up to create a new music video that’s becoming a runaway sensation, reported Billboard.

The single, called “I Really Like You,” is set to be released in April. The video features Carly with Bieber and Hanks. Justin followed up the experience with a laudatory tweet to his manager Scooter Braun and Carly. Braun manages both Justin and Carly.

“@carlyraejepsen @scooterbraun today was a great day. I need some rest ? #IReallyLikeYou video is gonna be amazing”

So, just how did Carly persuade Tom Hanks to appear on her music video? The two met at Scooter’s wedding, she told Access Hollywood. And a little bird determined their destiny.

“There was a hummingbird in one of the tents and everyone was trying to free the hummingbird from the tent, and I saw a man grab a broom and I guess he was trying to move the tent so the bird could run free. But in my mind – I may have had a cocktail or two— I thought he was going to attack the bird with the broom.”

Determined to defend the birdie, Carly leaped into action.

“So I ran over to him and I grabbed his arm and I was like, ‘Don’t hurt the bird!’ and he turned around and I was like, ‘Tom Hanks!’ So that’s how we said hello,” Carly explained.

After meeting Tom’s wife Rita Wilson, Carly was working on seeking a theme for her video. And the young pop singer was determined to steer clear of any type of flowers and sunshine girly treatment.

“I wanted something Wes Anderson, kind of dark. Something to counter-balance how sweet the song was. And I had an idea that it would be great to have a male lead not just co-star, but like, sing the entire thing, something totally unexpected. Scooter was telling the story to Tom over dinner, because like I said they are friends. I wasn’t there but Tom apparently said ‘Well why not me, why didn’t you ask me?'”

And that’s how the trio was formed. Carly praised Hanks for his kindness and humble approach to filming her video.

“The entire day he just wowed me,” declared Carly. “I don’t think he knows that he’s Tom Hanks!”

Although the weather was cold, Tom faithfully repeated the song numerous times, said the young singer.

“He’s the sweetest, kindest, most humble man you’ve ever met. [He was] out in the freezing cold, singing my song take after take while I was in the trailer with my hot chocolate being like, ‘Good job, Tom. Do it again.”

As for Justin Bieber, he just had his own reason to celebrate when he turned 21, as the Inquisitr reported. Among the highlights of his birthday bash were beer, beauties, and a by-ourselves private island.
