New Jersey Mugging Victims Fight Back, Kill Their Attacker

Anyone who has seen the Sopranos or Jersey Shore knows that you don’t mess with people from New Jersey. Last night a mugger came up to two New Jersey men and attempted to steal one of their cell phones. He didn’t expect them to fight back and kill him!

The Star Ledger reports that Gian Davis, 30, approached two college students and asked if he could use one of their cellphones to call a cab. One of the students offered to make the call for him instead of handing over the phone. Davis reached out his hand to thank the student then grabbed the phone and punched the other student in the head.

On the of students went after Davis to get the cellphone back and Davis put him in a head lock. The student’s friend then leaped on Davis to subdue him and put Davis in a headlock. The student then moved Davis into a full nelson on the ground restraining him completely. Once he was completely subdued the other student call the police.

Police dispatched officers to the scene who arrested Davis and had him transferred to the hospital. Davis was pronounced dead at the hospital from wounds received in being restrained.

Davis had prior arrests for aggravated assault and theft. He was released from his last stint in jail on July 22.

Do you think the students did the right thing? Did Davis deserve what he got?
