Up until now, we only had an idea of what Supergirl might look like. Sure, we knew Melissa Benoist was in the lead role, but we had no idea what the costume might look like. Now we have the first few photos of Benoist in her Supergirl costume.
According to TVLine, filming for the pilot is currently underway this week, so that means we have more than a glimpse of how Supergirl is going to look. Check out this stunning photo of Glee’s Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El in her superhero look.

Colleen Atwood, the designer behind the CW’s other series The Flash and Arrow, released a statement about the Supergirl costume.
“In designing Supergirl. I wanted to embrace the past, but more importantly, thrust her into the street-style action hero of today.”
As the Inquisitr reported, since Benoist was announced as the lead in the CW series, casting has gone full steam ahead in placing other characters in order. Grey’s Anatomy’s Chyler Leigh will play Kara Zor-El’s adoptive brainy older sister. Kara’s older sister is obsessed with her sister’s super powers, which led her to her career as a doctor.
Additionally, actress Calista Flockhart is joining the cast as Cat Grant. Grant is Kara’s boss and the CEO of CatCo, which is the place where Kara works for when she’s not saving the city. Actor David Harewood was cast as Hank Henshaw, who’s described as a former CIA agent who now owns the Department of Extra-Normal Operations.
The series is also getting other caped crusaders involved as well. The film version of Supergirl, Helen Slater, has been cast in a recurring role, along with Superman actor Dean Cain. As of right now, we don’t know who they will play, but some are hoping they play older versions of the roles they’re most famous for.
As for reactions to Supergirl’s costume, there’s plenty.
@DCComics At least the boots don’t have the cut-out knees. *shudder*
