Fake Drake Tour: Promoter Scams Fans, Schedules Bogus Arena Dates

A fake Drake promoter has looked to take advantage of eager fans by selling tickets to a handful of show across the U.S. that haven’t actually being scheduled.

ABC13 reported that some fans have already purchased their tickets for a show in Houston. Unfortunately for those joyous music-lovers, this show wasn’t legitimate.

One of the gigs was scheduled for May 13 at Houston’s Arena Theatre. But rather than leaving Drake’s fans out to dry, the stadium has decided to offer refunds to those unlucky souls who had already “purchased” these tickets.

And now a Drake spokesperson has come out to both warn fans about this scam, and insists that anyone who has been caught up in it should contact the authorities so that they can claim their money back.

“Drake has never been scheduled to appear at the Arena Theatre venue. When we learned of this situation we immediately encouraged the venue and promoter to contact law enforcement to initiate an investigation.

“We are horrified that someone would use Drake’s name to take advantage of his fans. For any individuals who may have fallen victim to this, please contact your local authorities.”

Employees at Houston’s Arena Theatre have since come out and declared that they are currently working with Drake and his team over at OVO Sound in an attempt to get the hugely popular musician to play at the arena.

In fact, anyone who was unlucky enough to have become embroiled in this scam, will be given the first opportunities to get tickets to the official show.

However, this scam wasn’t just prevalent in Houston. Gossip Cop reported that it was also advertised in seven other cities across the United States, including Miami.

Drake only has a handful of tour dates actually planned for the next few months. Currently, he is Australia, while he is also set to perform at Coachella in April, and has performances planned in New York and London for June and July, respectively.
